NOVE MESTO part 3

This part of Nove Mesto was were my first stroll in Prague from my hostel in Karlovo Namesti to Vaclavske Namesti happened on the 1st August 1999, seems like a long time ago and to be fair, I had no idea where I was going or in fact where I finished up but the first view of the statue at the top of Vaclavske Namesti stayed with me till this day and every time I walk through there the feeling has stayed the same, of course I know much more about it now. For one it is a tourist magnet and for this reason you can expect to find all the things that a tourist needs such as clothes shops, expensive bars and restaurants, museums, memorials, caberet clubs, pickpockets and hot food 24hrs a day and 7 days a week.

I am not going to bang on about Nove Mesto too much as it is the 3rd article on this area so it is a big area and what I have said before added to what you probably know about this area through tourist guides, late night binges and just getting plain lost, speaks volumes. To give you an idea. The area that I covered today on an east to west swing stretched from Jecna in the South to Petrska in the North so it is a fair area to cover and I took over 500 photos and that was not all the places of interest, just the ones that interested me and then I had to whittle it down to 30 and I had to leave out some of my favourite places like Jama for example a place where I can often be found on the rare days I am let out and Republica and that is only to mention a few, so if you are looking for a place to let go, sit down for a cup of tea, meet some lovely ladies or feel charitable and donate all your hard earned cash then Nove Mesto 3 has it all.

Review

This week we decided to spice things up a little and try some Vietnamese. The only benchmark that I have for Vietnamese food is the Pho Vietnamese restaurant in Jiriho z Podebrad so that in mind I went for the soup with shredded beef which I had had in the Pho and my SVG went for Vietnamese spring rolls with rice noodles. We went there with our 1 year old son Sammy and he was well behaved for at least 10 minutes which was fine because we were in the right place for a quick meal and we weren't disappointed, in and out in 40 minutes so the other guests didn't have to suffer Sammy's tears for too long.

The soup was well presented but the stock was quite bland compared with the Pho. It was spicy with a dish of fresh chillies to add to make it a little bit spicier, which of course I did and the Spring rolls were greeted with much appreciation though the rice noodles were bland and didn't complement the spring rolls and were missing some much needed flavour.

The restaurant is quite small though there are two levels to the place. The restaurant is 1 year old friendly even though they didn't have a baby chair and the staff are very nice and the service was very good to match.

There were some photos to show you the meals that we had but I had to take my phone into service and I had to wait a whole month to get it back and in that time I was fortunate to lose my micro SDHC card which had all the photos on, but not to worry. If you check the website they have very nice photos of all of the dishes. We have been again since we did the review and the experience was the same though I did go for something a little bit spicier and it wasn't a soup you'd be happy to know.
